Fellow Alumni,
Lafayette alumni had quite a busy summer. More than 1,500 of us, representing 64 class years, returned to College Hill in June for our Bicentennial Reunion. Although we recognized the 1s and 6s, more than 20% of us were from non-milestone years. The Class of 1976 had a huge showing to ring in their 50th. During Reunion, outgoing Alumni Association Board (AAB) president (and incoming trustee) Fran Della Badia ’91 and I joined President Nicole Hurd in presenting the AAB Alumni Awards at Colton Chapel. We have impressive alumni!
The AAB gathered at Metzger Campus back in June, hosting our meeting at Wallach Sports Performance and Lacrosse Center, with Patriot League Coach of the Year Pat Myers providing a tour of the new facility. The alumni then walked to LaFarm, where Josh Parr, manager of food and farm, Prof. Ben Cohen, and several student interns showed us how the farm is integrated into the campus and the curriculum. Alumni also did their part in welcoming the Class of 2030, hosting welcome events in nine states. Cara and I welcomed students and families from Georgia and Tennessee in our home, and I had the opportunity to address the entire class on behalf of the alumni during First-Year Convocation in August.
As we round out our Bicentennial celebration, there are lots of ways to engage with Lafayette, including Family Weekend, which will be my last as a parent. We host Lehigh this year for Rivalry Weekend, starting with a tailgate at Bicentennial Village on Friday, Nov. 20, with entertainment headlined by Darius Rucker. The game will be held on Saturday, with our annual Bring the Roar challenge ending at halftime. Please show your support by making a gift. If you can’t attend the game in person, over 45 telecast parties are scheduled across the country.
I look forward to seeing many of you on campus this fall!
In the meantime, Roll Pards!
Sincerely,
John Mulcahy ’87 P’27
Alumni Association Board President
