Panel Discussion: Kerns, The Quintessential Liberal Arts Educator

Lafayette faculty, arts professionals, and former students, now artists/educators, will gather to highlight the immense impact of Ed Kerns. Speakers will discuss Kern’s activities, approaches, and successes as an intellectual who broke down siloed disciplines and fostered collaborations between a broad range of academic disciplines to create community-oriented projects and pursuits. References will include his early professional career, unique projects through Lafayette (Frankenstein 2029, Katrina Relief Community-driven work in New Orleans, development of the Karl Stirner Arts Trail), and studio practice and collaboration with students. Samples of Kerns’ collaborations will be on display in Buck Hall lobby and the Williams Visual Arts Building lobby.
